He was born in Izmir in 1967. After graduating from Izmir Bornova Anatolian High School in 1985, he completed his medical education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his compulsory service in Muş State Hospital Emergency Department. He completed his surgical specialty training at Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital (today Kâtip Çelebi University) in 1996. After working as a general surgeon at Manisa Demirci State Hospital for a while, he completed his military service in the Çanakkale 1st Corps 5th Commando Regiment in 1997-1998. In 1998, he started working as a specialist at Adnan Menderes University, Department of General Surgery. He received the title of Assistant Professor in 1999, Associate Professor in 2004 and Professor in 2009. His areas of interest are Breast surgery and Coloproctology. In 2014, he attended the Oncoplastic Surgery course in Düsseldorf, Germany. He has experience in numerous breast-conserving surgeries, sentinel lymph node biopsies, oncoplastic surgeries and prosthesis applications. More than half of the surgical practice consists of breast disease surgery. His many scientific articles about breast cancer have been published in national and international journals. He is also experienced in the field of proctology. He is one of the surgeons with the most experience in laser hemorrhoid surgery in Turkey. He is one of the few physicians in Turkey who practices Video Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment (VAAFT).
